On UK TV Channel 5 now :
Durga: The Goddess Comes to London
"Documentary charting London's celebration of the biggest festival of Bengali Hindus. In the British Museum, skilled craftsmen from Bengal craft a huge depiction of the goddess Durga. Amid a spectacle of chanting, sacred dance and kaleidoscopic costume, the creation - made from straw, clay and paint - is ritually immersed in the Thames by Putney Bridge."
If I had known this was happening, and had any interested friend to come with me,
I'd have gone to this.
I don't like crowds, or public transport. The Thames river is not the Ganges, and has a distinct lack of burning Ghats and Mandir on it's shores, but I'd have still gone.
